Did you realize that statistics prove that you have a much better chance of being able to find your future husband on the Internet than you do at some random party or in a work environment? This staggering statistic is brought to us by the Harris Interactive Survey and we can be sure that these statistics will only increase as we rely more and more on the World Wide Web to communicate with each other.
We know that they call it social networking, but do they really expect you to find your future husband by networking online? The Internet is the font of all knowledge, this much we know, but we were not aware how much attention we should be paying to meeting someone online. There was a time when Internet dating sites were very backward and nobody really took them seriously, but it appears that this is significantly changing.
20% of all respondents who married during an 18 month online survey had actually met online. This figure is compared to 17% who met through a friend’s introduction or 17% who met somewhere in the workplace. These figures, released in 2007, show that you are more likely to find your future husband on the Internet than by going to any of those weekend parties at clubs or bars. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself in this case!
If you’re more likely to find your future husband online, it seems that the older you get the more this trend accelerates. According to a Harris Interactive survey, 51% of married couples between the ages of 45 and 54 met online versus only 18% of the 20 to 44-year-old age group. Some people put this down to the fact that we may be more active, socially we are that much younger, at college or more likely to go to clubs and bars at weekends.
It is certain that as online dating spreads, techniques and solutions will mature to help those looking to find attractive potential mates. Do you think you can find your future husband online? If you think about it, there is no reason why not due to all the communications methods available to us these days. Including videoconferencing, WebCams and interactive sites, we have plenty of choices.
If only you could find your future husband online without having to resort to all those weekends spent at the clubs. You should be able to make a physical shortlist after eliminating many of the initial candidates on the Internet, especially if these people are truthful with their profiles and photographs, of course.
We can expect to see many techniques, solutions, products and games tailored toward the sophisticated online dating arena. These will help us match up with people subliminally and should also eliminate a lot of the guesswork and put you on your way to finding your future husband.
Technology is becoming almost Orwelian as we move towards selecting our soulmate. In the future, machines may in one way or another know better than we do ourselves who we are more likely to “click” with. Soon, those old methods of dating will seem very quaint.
