The Top 10 Tips For Planning Creative Dates

Planning creative dates can be one of the most exciting, yet stressful activities in a new romantic relationship. In order to help you in your ongoing quest for new and exciting things to do, I’ve put together a list of 10 of the most important tips with regard to planning creative dating activities:

1. Put a twist on something you both like to do. It could be something common like going to the movies or walking in the park. For example, you could walk in the park on a day that an interesting event is taking place there. If you pick something you both enjoy, it makes it easier to be creative.

2. Although spontaneity can be very fun, make sure you plan in advance. Particularly creative dates need a bit of forward planning. You should try to work out as many details as possible, but be flexible enough to change the plans if need be. The more creative you’re going to get with your plans then the more details you’re probably going to need to work out; give yourself enough time.

3. Make sure you’re both available for the date. I know this sounds obvious, but people’s schedules change all the time. A simple misunderstanding with regard to the time or day can mean that you wasted a lot of time and effort in getting all the creative details worked out for your special date. Make sure both of your schedules are free and clear and mark it on the calendar. You don’t want to create something special and have it ruined because you didn’t think to check your schedule or your significant other’s schedule.

4. Although you won’t want to use them, make backup plans anyway. No matter how well you plan, there’s always a chance that something might come up. For instance, even something as simple as the weather could put an end to your plans to see a ballgame. So try to come up with a second option that you can easily fall back on if need be.

5. Think of something different that you’ve never done before, or at least never done together. Maybe there are things you or your significant other like but have never tried. Maybe you’ve just never shared a particular activity together. It can be exciting to try something new together. For instance, if you’ve thought about skiing and been too scared to try it, trying it together could be a very memorable experience. Creativity abounds in unexplored themes.

6. Get ideas from friends. Sometimes it’s too difficult to come up with something yourself, so enlist the help of those who know your significant other best. He or she will never even realize you that you knew, which will make the date even more of a surprise. But make sure that they still like whatever it is you’re planning. For example, they might have really enjoyed video games in high school, but might not be interested in them anymore.

7. Just before the event, double check that you’ve got everything in place. If you’ve made reservations, make sure they’re for the right time. Or, if you have to travel, make sure you know exactly how you’re going to get there. Since you’ve planned something so special, you want to make sure that it all happens without any problems.

8. Although you’ll carefully plan your date, leave a little room for some spontaneity. Don’t make your plans so rigid that it loses the fun. No matter how creative you’re going to be, always make sure there’s room for things to change a little.

9. Don’t feel stressed. Sometimes things won’t go exactly as you want them, but all this calls for is a small adjustment to your plans. The most important thing is that you both have fun, and remember that the best situations can arise out of the unexpected!

10. Think about which have been your best dates and why, and then stick with what works. If you’ve already created interesting, creative activities then you’re halfway towards creating another one. Think back to past dates and look for a pattern. Were these dates good for a particular reason? If you don’t see a common trait, maybe it’s just being together in and of itself that makes your dates exciting.

I hope my top ten tips have helped you come up with some ideas for creative dates that you’ll both enjoy. Remember, the most important thing is that you plan according to what your significant other really likes; thinking along those lines can help you to come up with some fantastic ideas!
