Classic Scenario: First time date, you think it is going really well. You follow all of the dating ‘rules’ you have come to know but lo and behold a day goes by, another days go by, weeks go by, and you never hear from your date again. This scenario is so common as people do not realize that the dating rules have changed, and there may be some sort of miscommunication. Let us take a look at those dating myths that could possibly leave you dateless.
Myth: Talking about yourself is automatically taken as selfish and narcissistic.
Reality: if you were to take about yourself the whole night, always tying things back to you and your life…then it maybe an issue. However, allowing them to get to know you through some talk about yourself is no problem at all.
One of the biggest issues in dating is lack of communication. So communicate with your date by opening up about yourself. It shows that you are willing to be open to intimacy and honest. Bring them into the conversation and ask them questions as well. By showing interest through asking questions, it shows your continual interest and the possibility of a 2nd or 3rd date. Keep the communication balanced, and you should have no trouble.
Myth: Being friends’ first makes a relationship easier.
Generality: In some cases, this works just great. However, many times the relationship stays too casual because the friendship has been so causal for so long. Sometimes it is harder to have that romance that comes in the early dating stages.
Myth: Ordering a salad shows the other person that you are health and weight conscious.
Reality: If you are craving a salad, then order it. Otherwise, b yourself and order what you want. A date is meant to show the other person, who you really are, so do not be dishonest, even with your food choices.
Also, keep in mind that if you are picky about what you order, it will come off as fussy and picky and you don’t want to appear that way. Come across as confident in yourself, and order what you feel like eating.
